Also known as Kunlun Dayan Qigong, this traditional Chinese health exercise made up of gentle movements that connect with the acupuncture points and meridians of our body. The word Qigong literally means “energy work”. Using relaxation and breathing along with these special movements, we have Qigong.
Qigong will help you to relax and become more aware of your body. As we practise more, we will begin to notice changes in our body including more flexibility, energy and stamina. This is because the Qi is working to heal any old illnesses or injuries and to open the channels so that the Qi can flow naturally, making us feel younger and more alive. There are many types and styles of Qigong, but the style which you will learn in class is called the Kunlun Dayan or Wild Goose Qigong system

Chen Taijiquan
Authentic Taiji or Taijiquan (Tai Chi Quan) is a martial art more commonly practised for good health than for self defence these days. The original style of Taijiquan was created by the Chen family in Henan Province of China. Taijiquan literally means ‘yin yang fist’. The skill covers both external movement and internal training and Chen Taijiquan is characterised by its unique spiral energy used in its martial applications to ‘throw’ an opponent away. Focus is on 19 Form; this is the first form in the syllabus and was created by Grandmaster Chen Xiao Wang to enable beginners to learn and get a flavour of Chen Style Taijiquan. It contains gentle movements which are based on the Old Frame (Laojia) of Chen Taijiquan and is a perfect introduction to the skill. We will also practice tui shou or pushing hands to develop sensitivity.

Chun Yuen Quan
Chun Yuen Quan is a Shaolin Kungfu that has come down through the Beijing Opera, It is a martial art that supports our health and is great fun to learn. A variety of forms, some bare fisted and others with weapons such as sword and staff, promote good posture, co-ordination, strength, flexible joints and increase circulation to warm the body. Forms can be practised with benefit at slower and basic levels, suitable for all ages and fitness levels, or faster and stronger for the younger and fitter students. It is important to get foundation movements and posture correct whether practising fast or slow and do a little every day.
